emex is the emergent techno act of george apergis and alex retsis, powered by korg synthesizers. inspired by mathematics and digital electronics, already supported by marcel dettmann, truncate, drumcell, jonas kopp, bas mooy, pfirter, lag and many others. their debut ep is a conceptual fusion of dancefloor techno with atmospheric overtones, first track 00110001 is a minimal opener with pounding chords and detroit style influences, second track 00110010 progresses into darker territories while the fundamental grooves become infused with moody flavors and third track 00110011 transpires from harder realms, concluding the release with its almost acidic basslines and trippy arpeggios.

the fourth installment in the legwork records saga sees label heads lance desardi & leopold come together under the artist moniker legwork. for their first outing under the name they start with buck shot, a techno-soul chugger featuring a remix by the futurist himself, matrixxman. on the flip, the boys go in for a straight-ahead killer with mean 2 me and a more musical version of the same tune, key 2 me.

since 2010, jackie house aka jacob sperber has been driving the a&r side of the san francisco dance-music troupe running the hnytrx label and producing remixes with other members under the honey name. putting label duties on hold in 2013 sperber cocooned into his music studio, entering as a brave brunette and exiting as an ambitious blonde. * stydive * is jackie s debut to wax and has as much house-party in it as it does warehouse 4am. with a vocal sample nod to punk s past, * stydive* pogo dances to dusty and stuttering live/analog drum rhythms and skips along a rude and infectious bass-line. bound to find lovers of all persuasions for its dub-esque qualities, instantly recognizable hook, and open relationship with house music, this tune begged to have it s own side. that said, there is always room for some matrixxman who takes stydive to a strobe lit south of market darkroom in his remix on the b. spurting erotic lazers around a cavernous kick, this tune finishes off even the most experienced edger.

following two previous appearances on the label (a collaboration with matrixxman for delft 004 and a remix of alden tyrell on 006), san francisco s vin sol makes his full solo debut on delft with the memory scan ep: four rough & ready analogue jams fizzing with the effervescent energy that has characterised the producer s output for unknown to the unknown, clone jack for daze and his own soo wavey imprint.

delft revisits its very first release for two fresh remixes of delft 00x cuts from label regulars alden tyrell and matrixxman. tyrell sets about making la-4a s invader into an even heavier dancefloor beast, while matrixxman heighten s america kid s sinister side to hypnotic effect. also included are the original mix of invader, which turned the first release into a highly-sought secret weapon for djs including optimo, mike servito, erol alkan and bicep, as well as a synthapella of america kid. ,

matrixman (spectral sound / dekmantel / ultramajic) delivers a submerged reimagining that world-premiered on xlr8r. severino (of horse meat disco) and hifi sean deliver a galloping up yours remix, and rotciv (unterton / luv shack) adds funky basslines to his outta sight version. the limited edition of 330 copies is hand stamped and hand numbered, and a large, heart-shaped hard ton sticker is included with every copy.

vin sol & matrixxman open up their label, soo wavey, to newcomer en who drops this 4 track ep (including a remix by vin sol & matrixxman) of house and techno. the lead track truth steps out of the gates swinging with aggressive yet tucked tr-909 programming sitting nicely alongside dark motifs. ens and reality then delves into menacing minimal drone techno territory, ultimately yielding to a subtle call and response exchange among dueling 808 tom bass lines. on the flip side, 4u lighten things up a tad with soulful, atmospheric detroit chords supplying a much needed breath of fresh air. last but not least, vin sol and matrixxman join in on the fun supplying a hypnotic, off kilter reworking of 4u imbuing the remix with restrained chicago jacking vibes that flawlessly straddle the divide between house and techno. limited to 500 copies (no repress!).

soo wavey is back with a new 12 inch from vin sol. the raw side features the floor burning jam cookies along with spoiled exile with an appearance from matrixxman adding his patented techno feel. pyramids on the deep side has a classic moody chicago vibe & meltdown is a dreamy cut. fyi: swr006, 007 and 008 are all now out of print (these releases really are limited�) so dont miss this one!

those of a certain vintage may have a soft spot for global underground s after hours series, which promised to soundtrack -the party after the club- by joining the dots between woozy progressive house, deep techno, electronica and, of course, ambient. some eight years after the last installment, the long-running club brand has decided to re-launch the series. apparently, this latest installment took a year to put together, and featured tweaked, edited and gently reworked tunes layered up for a more enjoyable listening experience. musically, it sticks to similar territory to previous installments, updating the sound a little via tracks and remixes from ewan pearson, lawrence, scuba, matrixxman, michael mayer and joris voorn.
